I think I've decided on the Nitto NT01 tires, but I've heard the Toyo Proxes R888R are pretty much equivalent. I'll be running the 120 class. Last time I ran SORC I used Hoosier S04 tires in the 115 class. They are a bit overkill, but I had a connection (nearly free) on them back in the day. Thanks for all your input! Jon

I'm running these Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R N4 How do you like those? How do they compare to others you've had in the past?

We are at a much lower speed class than you, but we have run Hankook RS3's the last 3 or 4 times we ran the race. They grip well for our corner speeds. We have a friend that runs a Corvette in the 110 class and he has been running NT05's the last few years out. He runs those tires because he does not race enough to make it worth it for him to have a dedicated set of track wheels and tires. The NT01's or the R888's, I think would work really well on the road for SORC.

Sounds like a good balance. You can also search for the tires you want on TireRack and read the reviews. Lots of good information in them. Thats what led me to my decision.

Also, as one of your friendly neighborhood tech inspectors, I have seen everything on cars from full on Hoosier road racing slicks to the 60 dollar WalMart special tires on cars in this race. Granted the cheaper tires are usually on cars in the 80 MPH class, but they are still there.

115 class?
Is that Jon Dewar? It will be great to have you back at the SORC. It has been a long time.

Chris, yes, you're correct! It's Jon Dewar back again. :-) It'll be good to see all you guys again. I'll be doing the 120 class this year. I can't wait.
