We mourn the loss of a fellow S.O.R.C. family member
Houghton Furr
When I would pull into the hotel parking lot in Arnold, NE for the Sandhills Open Road Challenge. First thing I looked for was Houghton's car and He was usually sitting outside ready to great us year after year.
It is really not going to be the same for me for a long time. I enjoyed his company very much and I know He loved coming to Arnold every year.
Two years ago Houghton won in his class, He did not believe us at first, but once He found out it was true, He was so happy and surprised. It was really something special for all of us.
Godspeed my friend.

Thank you for the touching tribute! He absolutely adored all of his fellow racers!! I still have the voice mail recording of when he called to tell me he won. He was excited as a little boy at Christmas time! I'll never forget the year I was his Navigator...totally amazing time. Have a safe and fun race this year!! I'm sure Houghtie will be there cheering all of you on! Brittany Furr (Houghtie's Daughter)

Sorry soo long & not posting a reply!! I was called by RT as soon as he found out!! Yes, Houghtie was a special friend. We shared some very special times, and he even put us up at his house for a winter SORC party a few years ago!! I was lucky to be close enough to have his number on speed dial, and we talked from time to time!! A warm and special hug followed each time we got together!! RIP friend!!! Heaven just raised their speed limits when they saw you coming!! Dave Carpenter
